From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to week 7!
Congratulations to all of our students and families for trying hard to attend school every day.
I would like to congratulate all of the students for their listening and respectful behaviour at our Remembrance Day Ceremony. Staff and special guests all commented on how well all students behaved.
With the Christmas Concert fast approaching; please remember that our school is an alcohol and smoke free zone.
On 6 July 2023, Minister Grace announced that all state school students will be required to keep their mobile phones ‘away for the day’ from the beginning of Term 1 2024. This announcement also extends to wearable devices like smartwatches. More information about phones and wearable devices will be communicated to parents, carers, students and community early in 2024.
We are very proud to offer some stationary vouchers from Office Works Mackay to the value of $20. Thank you to Chappy Peter and Zara Germon for working on this for our students.
Stationary Vouchers will also be available for our Year 1 to Year 6 students. Please be quick to hand your note back, as there are only 100 vouchers available. These vouchers will be free!
The vouchers will be ordered via a note that will come home shortly from Aunty Wave and Chappy Peter. The Stationary Vouchers can be collected in week 10 for those families who return the note.
Further stationary donations have been organised through Stationary Aid LTD. Alison Schutt is the co-founder of this organisation and they are organising Prep Book Packs for 2024. All Prep students will receive a book pack and a hat from the P and C. These packs are FREE!!!!
Prep Book Packs for 2024 will be available from Aunty Wave and Chappy Peter during our Transition Day in week 9. Thank you to QLD Multicultural Lions Club for their support as well.
The funds from the QLD Multicultural Lions Club have been used to purchase stationary vouchers and book pack stationary.
Already we are getting ready to plan our transition into the 2024 school year. To that end, a form has been sent out to all families to indicate if your child or children will be returning next year. The earlier it is received, the earlier we can complete our planning for next year. Similarly, if you know of any families who are looking to enrol their child/children at Slade Point State School, please urge them to contact us sooner rather than later.
The Year 6 Graduation Celebration will be held at the Surf Club. The event is scheduled for Wednesday 6th December. The cost is $17.50 and it needs to be paid in cash. Please note that the $17.50 is per person.
Please pay at the office and use the envelopes near the Green Box. Please put your money in the Green Box. The $17.50 is to be paid per person who is attending.
If you have any further questions regarding camp, please see Miss Usher or Miss Blackman.
