Bike Club with Chappy Peter
This week in Bike Club:
The students have been working on their bike's maintenance for the last two terms, with the guidance of Chappy Peter, their bikes couldn't work any smoother, another student here at school saw that we have the Bike Maintenance crew and asked if they would be interested in fixing his bike. (Student was to pay for parts if needed)
They all put their heads together using the knowledge they have gained from the last two terms to help work out what was wrong with the bike. They fixed the chain, lubricated all the rusty components, (there was alot I was told). They also freed the back wheel by undoing the tension on a lock nut.
They pumped up the tyres, checked the tyres for leaks and adjusted the brakes.
The student was so appriciative of the Bike Maintenance Crew and Chappy Peter.

Solid Pathways
SOLID PATHWAYS-Explporing the wonders of STEM through critical and creative thinking. Slade Point State School has been fortunate enough to be part of this valuable learning program this term. Solid Pathways is an innovative program speciffically designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in years 5 and 6.
The year 6 students participated in the unit - Solving the problem. In the unit, students developed their understanding and applicatiuon of a variety of mathmatical problem-solving skills. They identified everyday maths in the world around them and attempted to solve problems with real world application and relevance. The students justified their answers and created problems that can be solved by their peers.
Congratulations to Sienna, Llawana, Deshawn and Eli who have been awarded a Solid Pathway medal for their problem solving skills and participation during the six week program.
