News from the Principal's Desk
Welcome to week 9!
Congratulations to all of our students who had an amazing camp at Seaforth. Thank you to Miss Armstrong, Miss Blackman, Miss Usher, Chappy Peter and Mr Adjrun for supporting the students on camp. Also thank you to Mrs Kemp for your support as well! Marley Kemp made a lovely thank you presentation on behalf of the students.
A reminder that voting has been completed by staff and students for Leadership positions. The 2024 School Captains, Vice Captains and House Captains will be announced on December 4th at the Awards Presentation morning.
With the Christmas Concert fast approaching; please remember that our school is an alcohol, smoke free and no swearing zone. Thank you to all of our staff and students who are busy preparing for the Christmas Concert.
It was lovely to see all students enjoying our Transition morning on Tuesday 28th November. Thank you to staff who prepared some engaging activities for students.
The Wetland Walkabout Excursion went very well. All students in year 2 and year 3 were invited to attend in week 8, Thursday 28th November. I would like to sincerely thank Leah Scoble for the successful grant funding to pay for the bus to the Wetland Walkabout and also the entry fee. Shelly Coakley also assisted our students when they arrived at the Wetland Walkabout.
I would like to make special mention of the retirement parade that was held for Aunty Vik and Mrs Ikupu on Monday 27th November. The morning was very enjoyable and staff, students, parents and carers had an opportunity to thank these two ladies for their tireless work at Slade Point State Primary School.
Please note that our Christmas Concert will be on November the 30th. All parents, carers and community are welcome. Please enter the school via the Pheasant Street gate at 5 pm to start purchasing food and cold soft drinks. The concert starts at 5:45 pm. Please bring a blanket or chair to sit on. I would like to also thank the teaching staff and Mrs Jade Ford for the preparation that has been put into each item.
Awards Morning -week 10, Monday 4th December (all community, carers and parents are invited) to attend. This starts at 9 am.
- Members of the Slade Point Choir/Ukulele group will perform at Mackay North Bunnings- 7th December 2023. Children are to meet Mrs Henderson at the entrance to the Bunnings Store between 6:00 pm and 6:15 to perform at 6:30 pm;
- Retirement Celebration for Aunty Vik and Mrs Ikupu – week 10, Thursday 7th December, 4 pm. Venue: - Slade Point Bowls Club;
- Year 6 Graduation-week 10 - Wednesday evening 6th December (Mackay Surf Club) 6:30 pm $17.50 per person Dinner and Dessert;
- Christmas Concert-week 9 November 30th, Thursday 5:45 pm start for the concert, (all parents and carers welcome). Pheasant Street gate opens up at 5:00 pm and there will be a P and C sausage sizzle and Christmas Raffle;
- Sladey Celebration Day-week 10, 7th December, Colour Run.
- 8th December on the last day of school (Petting Zoo- Mad Animal Addiction); Classes will rotate through on the day;
- Report Cards sent home-week 10, 7th December;
- A short assembly will be held in the UCA on Friday the 8th December to farewell our year 6 students, Mrs Tasi (for her maternity leave), Mrs Ikupu and Aunty Vik. This short assembly will start at 2:40 pm. There will be some holiday safety messages relayed as well.

Year 2 & Year 3's Wetland Walkabout
Last week the students from Slade Point went on an excursion to the Wetland Walkabout here in Slade Point, Keeley's Road in fact.
This excursion was based around the Year 2 and 3 Science Cirriculum Connection.
Students learnt about water conservation, seedling growth, plants and animals and the importance of Wetlands.

Ninja Reading
Here at Slade Point we all enjoy reading, Mrs Bishop and Mrs Peach and some of our fantastic parent helpers and students themselves come in and sit with their peers in the library before school to read books. Students can receive tokens that go towards their Sports House for Ninja Reading . We will find out who our reading house winners are on Wednesday PBL Parade Week 10
Year 5 & 6 Camp
The Year 5 and Year 6 camp was AMAZING!!!
We did all sorts of fun games and activities like Archery, Catapults and Abseiling, my favourite part was Archery it made me feel like I was Robin Hood, I had such a good time and did not want to leave.

Slade Point State School are looking for a friendly and approachable Administration Person.
- The A02 position is for 49 hours per fortnight and requires exceptional people skills with preferred One School experience.
Requirements for the position:
1. Answer and make telephone calls;
2. Use the photocopier;
3. Operate and manage the front counter;
4. Administer medication - And has a Bluecard and a current First Aid Certificate;
5. Use computer and various programs;
6. Able to support special needs studentsa and liase with all staff members as required;
7. Time management and work priorities to be managed efficiently.
