Welcome to Week 10.
Welcome everyone. Today was an exciting day for all of our students, with Rewards Day happening at the beach and at the skate park. Thank you to the P & C for our Rewards Day Sausage Sizzle!
We had a very successful NAIDOC celebration on the oval last Thursday. It was pleasing to see our parents and carers participating and attending for the afternoon.
We wish all of our Slade Point Students the very best as they parepare for the Mackay & District Athletics carnival coming up in term three. Thank you Miss Roberts for always supporting our students.
Please note that our short PBL parade will be held every Wednesday morning at 8:30amn. Our key message this week is BE A LEARNER. Students will need to keep trying very hard with their school work for week 10.
For term three, our school will continue to focus on attendance. Every day at school is busy and full of learning opportunities. You cannot learn when you are not here to learn. Punctual and consistent attendance will allow your child to develop skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Let's all work together during semester two to see if we can lift the attendance rate for all classes to 90%. At school, on time, every day.
Report Cards will be distributed today. Congratulations to all students for trying hard with their learning this semester. Thank you to all teaching staff for preparing report cards this semester.
Thank you to all of our community who attended our Community Breakfast on Tuesday 20th June. It was a beautiful morning.
Please note that tomorrow is the Mackay Show Day Holiday and school will be closed.

Gardening
We now have a very special tree growong in our amazing forest. This tree (Omphalea Celata) is only found in some parts of Qld and nowehere else in the world. It attracts a very special moth called the Zodiac Moth.
Four local members of Friends of The Gardens have written and illustrated a beautiful book about this moth and it's peculiar Bungee jumping caterpillar. We now have a copy of this book in our library for all to share. You can also follow the picture trail at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and read this fascinating story.
The preps from the P/1 class helped plant the tree and have been watering it during their Tuesday afternoon gardening sessions. We can't wait to see it grow and attract the stunning Zodiac Moth.
Thank you to Ms Yates for writing this article and taking the photos for us to share in our weekly newsletter.

Deadly Choices
During Term 2, our Prep and Prep / 1 classes participated in the Deadly Choices Traditional Games program which aim to build cultural knowledge for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. The program encouraged our kids to embrace their identity and further develop understanding of their culture. Playing Indigenous Games is used as a tool to promote healthy lifestyles, healthy behaviours and is an ideal foundation to encourage positive teamwork. A massive thank you to Marmin, Yazza and Uriel for their awesome delivery of the program.
