Welcome to Week 1

Welcome everyone.  Thank you to all parents and carers for having your child ready for school this week, after a lovely holiday.  It was a great to see families and students back at school and attending the first parade for Term 3.

This term promises to be busy and exciting.  There are some amazing events coming up.

A special thank you is extended to Mrs Henderson and Miss Menzies for hosting the first "Afternoon Tunes Concert" on Tuesday at 3:30pm.  It was a very special afternoon of music.  Congratulations to all of our instrumental and choir students.  You all performed at your very best.

Please note that our short PBL Parade will be held every Wednesday morning at 8:30am.  Our key message this week is reminding students about the three school expectations:

BE A LEARNER,   BE SAFE,    BE RESPECTFUL

Slade Point State School is always focused on improving communication with parents / carers and staff. Every day at school is busy and full of learning opportunities.  On Tuesday 25th July, classroom teachers will be conducting parent / carer interviews.

Please be aware that an interview note from your child's teacher will be distributed over the next week. This note needs to be returned to your child's classroom teacher.  If for any reason the note goes missing or is accidently lost, please contact your child's teacher for another note.

A friendly reminder to our families - Invitations to participate in the School Opinion Survey will be sent out over a number of days in the week beginning Monday 17 July, to all parents / caregivers. One parent/caregiver per family will recieve an email.   The survey will close on Friday 18th August.

No logins or passwords are needed - parents / caregivers can simply click on the link and complete the survey. 

The survey invitation email uses the subject line: School Opinion Survey for parents / caregivers, 2023. Please check junk email folders if the invitation can't be found.  Only year 5 and year 6 students will be completing a survey at school.

Term 3 Events: Whitsunday Voices tickets are still available for students in years 3,4,5 and 6. Please contact your child's teacher for a note or ask your child to collect one from your child's teacher.

2.   Whitsunday Voices -  Week 1 Year 3 to 6, 14th July 

3.   Puppet show  -  Week 2 Thursday 20th July, Prep to Year 3 

4.   High school enrolments packs due  - Week 6 18th August

5.   Pioneer State High School Year 6 Interviews TBC Week 7 and Week 8

6.   School Opinion Survey to be filled in online and will be emailed to all parents/carers

7.   Rewards - Celebrations Day (Lawn Bowls) - Week 10 Wednesday 13th September

8.   Community Breakfast - Week 10 Tuesday 12th September (starting at 7:15am)

9.   Pupil Free Day - Friday 1st September  -  School is CLOSED

10.  Swimming Carnival - Week 10 Thursday 14th September - all welcome to attend at Memorial Pool

11.  Mackay and District Sports Thursday 27th July - Parents and carers of athletes welcome to attend and watch

12.  Eisteddfod for Instrucmental (Monday 14th August - Week 6) and Choir (Friday 11th August - Week 5)  

 All welcome to purchase a ticket and attend at the MECC

- Whitsunday Voices - Yr 3 - 6 - this Friday.  Form & $8 required by tomorrow Thursday 13th July.

- Homework Program starts - Wednesday afternoon week 2.

- Bike Ed lessons - Yr 4 students - week 2 - Thursday 20 & Friday 21st July.

- Mackay & District Sports Trials - Thursday 27 July - week 3.

- Swimming - starts Monday 7 Aug - week 5.  Invoices will go out next week.

- Student Free Day - Friday 1 Sept - week 8
