Welcome to Week 2
Principal messages
We have had a very busy start to term three!! Please read over all of the exciting and wonderful activities and events that are happening.
- Our Sladey School Disco is on this Friday. Please check Face Book, the school sign, posters around our great school for details. The P and C coffee shop operates each morning and volunteers will have information about the disco. Come dressed as your favourite move character. Please stay in the hall at all times.
5:30 to 7:00 pm. $2 entry (via Pheasant Street). Gate open at 5:30 pm.
Our Student Council always support the P and C. They will be selling glow sticks for 50 cents or 5 for $2. There is also a Crazy hair Day on the 31st July.
- Individual student reports on performance in 2024 NAPLAN will start arriving in schools over the next few weeks. Parents and Carers will receive a student copy a well.
- Slade Point State School continues to offer endless academic, sporting and cultural opportunities for all students.
- Best wishes to our athletes competing this week at Mackay and District Athletics.

Afternoon Tunes:
Tuesday 30th July at 3pm in the hall. Choir, Beginner Strings and Ensemble to Perform!
Eisteddfod:
Due to ongoing repair work at the MECC, this year’s Eisteddfod will be held in venues around Mackay. As some of these venues are in use through the week some performances have to take place on weekends.
String Ensemble (year 4-6 students): Sunday 11th August at Northern Beaches SHS at 9am . Please note that exact arrival/pick up times will be confirmed in the permission note as students will be required to arrive earlier to warm up.
Beginner Strings (year 3 students): Sunday 11th August at Northern Beaches SHS at 1:15pm . Please note that exact arrival/pick up times will be confirmed in the permission note as students will be required to arrive earlier to warm up.
Choir: Wednesday 7th August at New Life Church at 12:30pm. Students will be transported between the venue and school via maxi taxi. We are performing “Gecko” and “Where the Sky Meets the Sea”.
- Another opportunity that Slade Point is offering students in year 4, year 5 and year 6 is an excursion to Wetlands Walkabout. This is to also celebrate NAIDOC. The excursion will be held on Tuesday the 23rd July.
- This year the School Opinion Survey will be open to students, parents and staff between 22 July and 16 August 2024 with invitation emails being distributed the week starting 15 July 2024. I encourage all parents and students to fill in the survey and remember the exciting and wonderful academic, sporting and cultural opportunities our school offers.
- Please note that parent teacher interviews will be held on Monday 22nd July. Notes will be coming home over the next few days. Please check your child’s bag for an interview note.
- I would like to acknowledge all the support that Uncle Patrick gives to our school. He will be continuing his Wednesday dancing with our Year 5 and Year 6 classes. Thank you, Uncle Patrick.
- Thank you to all of our wonderful students who always show that they can be respectful in the playground. It was very pleasing to congratulate all the students who received 25 tokens and 50 and 75 badges.
Our Slade Point State School PBL message for the next 2 weeks –Be a Learner. Be respectful and Be Safe.
- We will be having a Community Breakfast this term. This will be held on Tuesday, week 7. The date is 20th August.
- Culture Day Dances. Culture Day is approaching quickly. SAVE THIS DATE – 29th August.
Our school is also preparing for Sladey Artists. This will run in conjunction with Culture Day.

Save these Dates: - Check Facebook posts from the school and P and C. Always ask your child’s teacher if you are unsure about events in the school (dates, times and venue). Check with staff on duty in the mornings at the UCA. Check with staff at the pickup gates each afternoon.

Parents, all invoices for Student Resource Scheme are now overdue. Please make arrangements for payment as soon as possible.
Late to school -
Students arriving after 8:45, please enter through the admin and collect a late slip.
SWIMMING - TERM 4
Parents, notes will be sent home in August for Swim lessons which will begin week 1, term 4. More info to follow.
Whitsunday Voices
Slade Point students were lucky enough to secure seats at this year's Whitsunday Voices where they got to see 2 Australian Authors, James Foley and Nick Earls.
Mrs Bishop said "Nick Earls was fantastic and loved to play with word meanings, which had significantly changed over the years."
James Foley... an author who writes children books for children who read books. If you're a child and you're eating his books you're doing it wrong.....
Disco this Friday!

Northside Uniting Church will be holding its Annual Community Fair 31st August 2024 9am - 1pm
