I would like to encourage year 5 students who are receiving an A or B in Technology or English to apply and also check in with Miss Usher about their semester one report card results. Good luck to all students who are applying. A list of successful applicants will be emailed to the school by Friday 9th August.
- I would like to thank Miss Fab and Miss Armstrong for supporting our two Mathematics teams. They competed at St Josephs on August 3rd. They all enjoyed the morning.

40th Anniversary Celebrations
Queensland’s School Crossing Supervisor Scheme is celebrating four decades of operation this year. The Department of Transport and Main Roads will be celebrating this milestone across the state during Queensland Road Safety Week (26-30 August 2024).
We’re asking schools to join us in recognising and celebrating school crossing supervisors, and the wonderful work they do, by sharing the information in this pack within your school community from Monday 26 August 2024.
Celebrating Queensland's School Crossing Supervisors for 40 years of service
This year, Queensland’s School Crossing Supervisor Scheme celebrates 40 years of keeping kids safe as they travel to and from school.
We'd like to say a big thank you to our wonderful School Crossing Supervisor/s, Monique Duncan 20+Years Irene King 13+Years, Monica Ikupu 12+Years, Merle Bates and Vera Voiges , XXX, for everything you do for our students and school community! You do a great job keeping our students and other pedestrians safe as they cross the road in peak drop-off and pick-up times.
Why not say a big thank you the next time you see them on duty! You can also show your appreciation for School Crossing Supervisors by slowing down, following directions and being courteous while travelling in our school zone.
Did you know?
• The School Crossing Supervisor Scheme is operated by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
• There are more than 2000 school crossing supervisors who operate over 1300 crossings at more than 700 Queensland schools.
• There has not been a single fatality on a supervised crossing since the scheme started in 1984.
Thank you,
Slade Point State School – community, parents, staff and students,
Choir at the 2024 Eisteddfod
Choir News:
Hot on the heels of a successful “Afternoon Tunes” the Slade Point Choir was awarded Gold at the 2024 Eisteddfod! The choir sang two pieces, ‘Where the Sky Meets the Sea’ and ‘Gecko’, both by Australian composers. The adjudicator was impressed and awarded the choir a Gold certificate and the Perpetual Trophy which is displayed in the school foyer. The small but enthusiastic group has been working hard all year on these pieces and it has definitely paid off. Thank you to Miss Menzies for accompanying us on the piano and all the parents who came along to support.
