Welcome to Week 7!
Principal messages
A reminder that over weeks 7 and 8 we will be focusing on the PBL Expectation of: - Be Safe.
Please always encourage your child to report any issues they might be having at school. Please discuss any concerns you have with your child’s classroom teacher. These are two practical tips to help your child at home. Here are some other strategies.
- Foster Empathy: Encourage your child to consider how their actions affect others. Discuss different scenarios and ask how they would feel in someone else’s shoes. Developing empathy helps children understand and respect the feelings and perspectives of others.
- Encourage Responsibility and Accountability: Give your child age-appropriate responsibilities at home. When they take ownership of tasks and understand the importance of fulfilling their duties, they develop respect for themselves and others. Encourage them to apologize and make amends when they make mistakes.
- Discuss Respectful Media Consumption: Monitor the media your child consumes and discuss the messages portrayed. Highlight examples of respectful and disrespectful behaviour in TV shows, movies, and online content. This can be a valuable teaching moment for understanding and practicing respect in various contexts.
By implementing these tips, you can help your child develop strategies to keep them safe with technology, their friends at school and to develop communicating skills to solve problems.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a safe, respectful and nurturing environment for our students.
A big reminder that Book Week is approaching fast. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book character and to bring that book to the parade. The theme is “Reading is Magic”. The Book Week Parade will be on at 8:45 am in the Hall on August 23rd. All parents, community and carers are invited to attend. Please enter the school via Pheasant Street.
Students will be receiving information about Culture Day over the next few weeks. The date is set and is on Thursday 29th August. There will be huge concert in the hall starting at 9 am sharp.
Families are encouraged to bring in food or a small cultural dish to share with all of the community. Families are being kindly asked to bring food to classrooms. Pleas also pack your child lunch. Tuckshop will run on a minimum menu as the school is closed on Friday 30th August.
Students will also be receiving information about costumes for their dance and class item. Our main lunch will occur in two areas. Please take all food to your child’s classroom. There will be a note from Aunty Waveney and program soon.
