Slade Point State School is always focused on improving communication with parents/carers and staff. Every day at school is busy and full of learning opportunities. We also want to keep all of our students safe.
If you have any concerns or questions about things that are happening at school or events at school: -
- You can email or ring the school office and ask to speak to your child’s teacher.
- You can also contact a staff member at the pick-up gate in the afternoon or see a staff member in the UCA each morning.
Queensland Road Safety Week runs from 26 – 30 August 2024, with the theme ‘We’re One Team Queensland. Let’s drive like it’. The safety of our students, parents and carers, and staff is paramount, and we all have a role to play. Students become road users at an early age as pedestrians, scooter or bike riders, and are our future drivers. Influencing positive road safety attitudes can never start too young. We’re asking everyone to consider how you can act as One Team Queensland on the roads:
- Is it leaving 5 minutes early to beat the school rush?
- Is it walking the extra distance to use the school crossing?
- Is it demonstrating courteous driving by giving a wave when someone lets you merge in front of them?
Slade Point is proud to be supporting this year’s Queensland Road Safety Week because we want our school community to get home safe so you can be there for the ones you love.
Road Safety REMINDERS. All students need to wear bike helmets if they are riding to school this also includes if they use a scooter. Please help all students to be safe on the roads by supporting this very important safety message.
Please use the main crossing in front of the school at all times and abide by the road signs for speed limits.
Crossing Pheasant Street in the afternoons can be very dangerous. Please remind your child to ask a staff member at the pick-up gates to help them. If parents and carers are parked across from the school on Pheasant Street, please walk across the road to collect your child. As mentioned, staff can assist your child, especially if you have small children in the car.
A reminder that over weeks 7 and 8 we will be focusing on the PBL Expectation of: - Be Safe.
Please always encourage your child to report any issues they might be having at school. Please discuss any concerns you have with your child’s classroom teacher.

Run for MI Life
We are holding our 10th Annual event on the 20th of October 2024, at Wests Leagues Club in Walkerston, and we are hoping to make this year’s event our best yet. Registrations are open now and our special 10 Years Commemorative runner's shirts are available for purchase with registration until August 23rd. We suggest that 1 person registers and sets up a team in your school or sporting club name, then individuals register themselves and join the team. You may wish to wear your own shirts, as a way of making your presence visible at the event, as you will be supporting such an important cause. Unfortunately, suicide prevention is still very much needed in our local community, and, as always, we promise to keep all funds raised in this community.
