Welcome to Week 4!
Principal messages
As mentioned, we have a very busy term.
We celebrated World Teachers’ Day on Monday 21st. I would like to thank all of our wonderful staff who teach at Slade Point State School.
Day for Daniel Friday 25th of October. Our school will be holding a special day. Please bring a gold coin donation and wear red. Weather permitting on arrival to school all children will be asked to support this day by walking with staff around the oval. As students arrive, they can grab some breakfast and head down to the oval for a walk.
Daniel was 13 years old when he was waiting at a bus stop wearing a red shirt. The bus failed to stop and pick Daniel up and he was never seen again. Daniel's situation went from safe to unsafe very quickly. Since then, his parents have used this tragedy to create the Daniel Morcombe Foundation which raises awareness about child safety and what to do when children feel unsafe.
Safety Circus will be performing for our Year 2 students on the 7 November at 9 am in the hall.
Brave Hearts will be coming to the school on October 28th for all of our Prep to Year 2 students. This performance will be in the hall at 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Thank you to Uncle Patrick for his work with our students in preparation for Awakening Spirits. I would also like to thank Miss Jade, Miss Blackman, Mrs Peach and Miss Usher for supporting our students at Awakening Sprits. Our students performed very well. It was a great night, with Slade Point having the largest representation of students.
Chappy Peter and Aunty Wave are busy organising book packs. Families will be notified about the book packs later in the term.

Celebrating our Successes: -
World Teachers’ Day – Thank you to all of our teachers.
During parades, we are always celebrating the great behaviour displayed by our students. Students are presented with their 25 Certificate ,50,75 and 100 badges as well as teacher's Student of the Week Certificate on parade each week.
Wakakirri Success: - Well done to our Wakakirri Team. Thank you to Miss Blackman and Miss Jade. It was amazing to celebrate on parade and acknowledge all of your hard work and success.
Facilities and Maintenance: -
Our year 4,5,6 playground has undergone a major refurbishment. There is now a sun safe sail and sand edging around the playground.
Fire Hydrant Upgrade: - There is going to be some significant work started on our bitumen road leading to the hall and a new entrance upgrade off Slade Point Road near the school crossing.
Please be aware that this may impact parking at the school.
REMINDER: - Parents please do NOT park in the school grounds. Please do NOT park in the driveway in front of the Administration building.
As a result of all the significant work being done around the school, some trees are having to be removed.
For fire safety reasons, the trees at the front of the school will need to be removed along with some trees along the road leading to the hall.
Our school community recognises the loss of the trees and has organised nine trees from the council to be planted in the grounds. Each class will plant a tree over the next few weeks. We will keep the entire community updated.
In the process of removing the two front melaleuca trees, it has also been arranged to build some lovely benches from the timber. These benches will allow students and the community to remember and reflect on these lovely melaleuca trees. We will be able to honour the history of what once was.
Celebrating PBL-Positive Behaviour and Learning: -
We always celebrate the wonderful behaviour of our students at Slade Point State School.
Our PBL Expectations and reminders for weeks 3 and 4: -
Be respectful
Our Sladey Supermarket continues. Students have an opportunity to go shopping to spend their gift vouchers. These vouchers are a great way to celebrate the wonderful behaviour of our students each day at Slade Point State School.
