From the Principals Desk
Welcome to week 4!
Welcome everyone. Thank you to all parents and carers for having your child ready for school and attending in week 4 of term three.
Our Year 4 students had a fantastic time at Bike Education. Despite the weather causing some difficulties, Bike Education went ahead. Thank you to Miss Armstrong and Miss Sandrey for all of your hard work and supporting our year 4 students.
Thank you to Mackay PCYC for being so accommodating and organising the two days for the year 4 students.
On behalf of the school staff, I would like to thank all parents, carers and the community for being patient and understanding during the recent Telstra outage. Telstra advised the school of a failure at the Exchange. Spare Parts have been sourced from Melbourne and also from Townsville.
Please note that our short PBL Parade will be held every Wednesday morning at 8:30 am. Our key message this week is reminding students about school expectation:
BE SAFE
Slade Point State School is always focused on improving communication with parents/carers and staff. Every day at school is busy and full of learning opportunities. Please contact your child’s classroom teacher to discuss any concerns or issues you may have.
A friendly reminder to our families. Invitations to participate in the School Opinion Survey will be sent over a number of days in the week beginning Monday 17 July to all parents/caregivers. One parent/caregiver per family will receive an email. The survey will close on 18 August. Our year 5 and year 6 students will have the opportunity to complete the survey from 24th July. They will do this at school and with their classroom teacher. If you are unsure about how to complete the survey, please ask your child's teacher.
No logins or passwords are needed, parents/caregivers can simply click on the link and complete the survey.
Swimming lessons are fast approaching. Thank you to parents and carers who have already paid and sent back their child’s permission note.
Thank you to Miss Roberts and Mrs Ford for supporting our students at the Mackay and District Sports Carnival last Thursday (27th July). Congratulations to our Slade Point State School students who all competed well and tried their hardest. We had five students progressing to the next level and will represent Mackay and District at Capricornia Trials.

I am very proud to announce that this term our school will be having a swimming carnival. The Mackay Memorial Pool staff have donated the use of the pool for free. Children will be able to attend for free and the cost of the bus is covered by the school.
This carnival will be a perfect opportunity for our students to proudly display their swimming skills that they have been taught this term.
