Welcome to Week 3!
Thank you to parents, teachers and community who attended Classroom Meetings on Monday 10th.
Congratulations!! Our attendance continues to be 90% and higher for week 2. Well-done everyone for being at school and learning.
We will be having a small UCA Parade to award our Sladey Superstars from week 3. This will be held on Thursday morning at 8.
We had wonderful start to our parade in week 2 and week 3. The Leaders Induction Parade will be confirmed in the following weeks. We will be welcoming our Student Council Representatives to this Leaders Induction Parade. Thank you, Miss Causon, for your work with our Student Council in 2025.
As our new Prep students gain more confidence with their morning routines, it is great to see parents leaving at 8:30 am. Our Prep students have had a wonderful start to 2025. Thank you, Miss Roberts, Miss Jade, Miss O’Mara, Mrs Yates, Miss Fab and Ms Voiges for all of your hard work.
Year 4, 5 and year 6 students will be participating in the Library Monitor Program again this year. Mrs Peach and Mrs Bishop (also Mr Roberts will be assisting), they will be handing out application forms over the next few weeks.
Congratulations to our school leaders. We will notify all parents and community about when the Leadership Parade will be held.

Cross Country will be coming up quickly. Training will start in week 5.
Our Cross Country will be held on Friday week 8, 21st March. The Obstacle Course will be on the same day for our Prep and Year 1 Students. The Obstacle Course will be run at 8:45am. This will be following the same process as last year.
The Cross Country will start at 1:30 sharp. Children will leave from the UCA and walk to starting positions for the start of the Cross Country.
Mrs Geiger will be sending home a note about training and explaining all of the distances for students.
REMINDER: -
Please note that the obstacle course from 2024 will continue for our Prep and Year 1 students. This starts at 8:45 am on Friday 21st March. All parents and carers are invited to do join in with their child.
New things Happening in the School and New Ideas: -
The Deadly Choice Team will work with our Year 2 and Year 1-2 Classes this year on a Tuesday. This will start in term 4 this year. It is great to have the DC Team back in our school. This is a slight change from what had been previously written in the Newsletter.
The Deadly Mindera Meekana Program will run in weeks, 3,4,5,6,7. This is a program for Year 6 and Year 5 students. Aunty Waveney will be organising notes and information to go out to parents.
Celebrating our Successes: - Students have already received a large number of tokens for their excellent behaviour and leaning.
Our Sladey Superstars started in week 2. This will continue for the remainder of the term.
We will have a small UCA Parade this week as Sladey Superstars were not announced on parade due to the in-climate weather.
During parades, we are always celebrating the great behaviour displayed by our students. Students are presented with their 25,50,75 and 100 badges as well as their 25 Certificate on parade each week.
Facilities and Maintenance: -
We are currently organising plumbing repairs for the Junior Boys toilet and for some of the slip pads that have been damaged in the school.
Thank you to Chappy Peter and Mr Dyllan Martin for completing the tables under A Block. Our Year 2 and Year 3 students now have more seating available at eating time.
We are very excited about the school office upgrade. Our administration building will also be painted over the next few months. We have some more exciting upgrades happening in C Block and A Block.
Our modular buildings will also have some upgrades. They will be enclosed underneath.
Celebrating PBL-Positive Behaviour and Learning: -
We always celebrate the wonderful behaviour of our students at Slade Point State School.

Be respectful
Our Sladey Supermarket continues. Students have an opportunity to go shopping to spend their gift vouchers. These vouchers are a great way to celebrate the wonderful behaviour of our students each day at Slade Point State School.
Save these dates: - Check Facebook posts from the school and P and C. Always ask your child’s teacher if you are unsure about events in the school (dates, times and venue). Check with staff on duty in the mornings at the UCA. Check with staff at the pickup gates each afternoon.
Future changes: - Term 4 Week 9 Thursday / Christmas Concert 5th December stating at 5:15 pm sharp. Gates open at 5:00 pm.
Term 4 Week 10 Thursday 11th December / Swimming Carnival and Sladey Celebration Day.
Future Dates: - Cross Country 21st March, Friday week 8.

STUDENT RESOURCE SCHEME:
Invoices have been emailed to parents for the 2025 SRS fees. Please note - these invoices are payable by 31 March 2025.
A big thank you to those who have already paid.
Invoices for Instrumental Music will be done soon.
Students Arriving Late:
Please be aware that the school gates are closed by 9am to help keep students from getting to the road. This is a student safety issue.
If your child arrives at school after 8:45am they are to come through the office to collect a late slip for their teacher.
YEAR 5 & 6 CAMP - 22 TO 24 APRIL
- Camp 22 to 24 April at Big4 Park, Airlie Beach.
Deposit of $50 to be paid now if you wish your child to attend.
Information will be sent home soon regarding balance of fees and camping requirements etc.
Vision Screening
FREE VISION TESTS FOR PREPS
The Primary School Nurse Health Readiness Program is coming to your school.
We are a Queensland Government service that offers Free Vision Screening to all children enrolled in Prep.
If your child is in Prep and you would like their vision screened, please complete a consent form using the below link or QR code.

Brown Paper bags are 10c each if you have not written your own, plastic sandwich bags cannot be used as the bags sit in a warmer, if you would like to donate some brown paper bags, they are available at Coles and Woollies for $4

Do you have experience with making coffee? Are you available between 7:55am-8:30am Any day M-F
Our P & C are looking for more volunteers for our Coffee Shop, if we can't get the volunteers, we will have to close down the shop :(
Our Uniform Shop is open Monday - Friday from 8am until 9:30am, we sell New and Used Uniforms, Hats, Sports House shirts. Pay via Eftpos or Cash. School Maroon Shorts and Skorts can be brought from Best n Less
