Student wellbeing and engagement are increasingly recognised as important aspects supporting student learning. We know that they play an important part in educational outcomes and are key to students fulfilling their potential in life after school. To this end, the Department has developed the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey and we are pleased to invite Slade Point State School to p0articipate in the 2025 collection of data. Schools that participate will receive reports that will help inform approaches to student engagement and wellbeing - a key focus area in the Equity and Excellence strategy and aligned to the Student Learning and Wellbeing Framework.
The QEW survey will be administered between weeks 1 - 4 of Term 2 (22 April - 16 May) 2025. The survey takes up to 45 minutes to complete and asks questions about many aspects of students' wellbeing, engagement and experience at school. Thank you to year 4 students for participating in the survey. The year 4 students in the 3-4 class will also be completing the survey.
Congratulations! Our attendance continues to be 90% and higher for week 2. Well done everyone for being at school and learning.
The Cross Country is coming up quickly. Training will start over the next week and Mrs Geiger has sent out a note regarding this.
- Our Cross Country will be held on Friday 21 March - week 8. The Obstacle Course will be on the same day.
- The Cross Country will start at 1:30 sharp. Children will leave from the UCA and walk to the starting positions.
- Mrs Geiger will be sending home a note regarding training and explaining the distance for students.
REMINDER: The obstacle course for our Prep and Year 1 students starts at 8:45am. All parents and carers are invited to join in with their child.
New things happening in the School & New Ideas:
- The Deadly Choice team will work with our Year 2 and Year 1-2 classes this year on a Tuesday and has been moved to term 4. It is great to have the DC Team back in our school. We look forward to seeing you in term 4.
- The Deadly Mindera Meekana Program will run in weeks 4, 5, 6, 6 & 8. There was a slight change to this due to training commitments. This program has been extended to Year 5 students. Aunty Waveney has been organising notes and information to go out to parents.
Celebrating our Successes: Students have already received a large number of tokens for their excellent behaviour and learning. Our first group of Emerald Certificates will be presented next Monday. Our Sladey Superstars has been very successful and many students have received awards. During parades, we are always celebrating the great behaviour displayed by our students.
Facilities and Maintenance: We are currently organising plumbing repairs for the Junior boys toilet and for some of the slip pads that have been damaged in the school.
Thank you to Chappy Peter and Mr Martin for completing the tables that have been installed funder A Block. Our year 2 and year 3 students now have more seating available at eating times.
We are very excited about the office upgrade. Our administration building will be painted over the next few months. We hope to have some more upgrades in A Block and c Block. The Modular buildings will be enclosed underneath.
Celebrating PBL-Positive Behaviour and Learning:
Our PBL Expectations and reminder for weeks 3 and 4 - Be respectful.
