Welcome to Week 5!
Thank you to all of our community, parents, students and staff for participating in a wonderful Leadership Induction Parade. Congratulations to our all of our Leaders.
Our Sladey Supermarket starts this week. Any child who has 25 tokens will be able to spend up at the Supermarket or save for a bigger shop in later weeks. Students have an opportunity to go shopping to spend their gift vouchers. These vouchers are a great way to celebrate the wonderful behaviour of our students each day at Slade Point State School.
Please also note we will be organising our attendance at the ANZAC Day Community March. More information will be sent out over the next few weeks.
Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Monday 31st March in the Library. A note will be coming home over the next few weeks.
Please get ready for our annual Easter Hat Parade. This will be held on the last day of term one. Students are asked to make their Easter Hat at home. The date is Friday April the 4th.

Hat for Learning-name on hats and lunch boxes please.
‘Hat for Learning’. All students require a hat at school every day for learning. Learning may include outdoor lessons, e.g., Science, Math, PE lessons. It may also include special school events. The library is also closed at second break, so all students are on the oval and need a hat for Sun Safety. School hats are available at the Tuckshop/Uniform Shop daily from 8-1pm for $20. We are a Sun Safe School at Slade Point.
Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly named. When transitioning to play from the UCA we are encouraging all students to wear their hat and not hold them in their hands. Sometimes hats are dropped while walking and also, as hats are being swung around and may hit other students.
A friendly reminder to all parents and carers– Please NAME all of your child's belongings. Toys are not to be brought to school. Earrings that are safe to wear at school are – small studs, small sleepers and a watch (not a smart watch).
All student phones must be delivered to the office at the start of the day, and they can be collected at the end of the day. Please do not turn phones on in the school grounds.
Please check the School Prospectus for more details about jewellery and phones at Slade Point state School.
Student wellbeing and engagement are increasingly recognised as important aspects supporting student learning. We know they play an important part in educational outcomes and are key to students fulfilling their potential in life after school.
To this end, the department has developed the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey, and we are pleased to invite Slade Point State School to participate in the 2025 collection.
Schools that participate will receive reports that will help inform approaches to student engagement and wellbeing, a key focus area in the Equity and Excellence strategy and aligned to the Student Learning and Wellbeing Framework.
The QEW survey will be administered between weeks 1-4 of Term 2 (22 April – 16 May) 2025. The survey takes up to 30 minutes for secondary students and 45 minutes for primary students to complete and asks questions about many aspects of students' wellbeing, engagement and experience at school.
Thank you to year 4 for participating in the survey. The year 4 students in the 3-4 class will also be completing the survey.
Congratulations!! Our attendance continues to be 90% and higher for week 5. Well done everyone for being at school and learning.

NAPLAN
Across the country, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in NAPLAN. The online test have many features to enhance the test experience for students. Our students will be doing NAPLAN in March this year.
NAPLAN accesses the skills of all students in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and numeracy. NAPLAN tests help you to understand how your child is progressing in the fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy. NAPLAN is also an important tool in helping us to identify how our education programs are working and what needs to improve.
When your child comes home from school, they might mention NAPLAN. They might talk about NAPLAN activities they have done in class, including practice tests. Students don't need to practise for NAPLAN, but we do want your child to be familiar with - the online test environment; the device they will use during the test; the different kinds of questions; how they use their time and how they check their work. So when your child talks about practice tests, they're talking about resources like the NAPLAN public demonstration site. This site helps students to become familiar with the different kinds of questions they will see in a real NAPLAN test. See the types of questions and tools available in the online NAPLAN assessments at 'NAP-Public demonstration site'.
We do these activities to help your child feel safe, confident and capable. They will know what to expect and what they have to do. Students do not need to stress about NAPLAN. It is just one part of their school program and we simply encourage students to do the best they can.
