Principal's Desk
Welcome to Week 3!
- I would like to thank our P and C Team for supporting a Mother’s Day Stall again this year. Please ensure all money for the Stall on Thursday 8th May comes to school in a named envelope. Also, please remind your child to give their money to their teacher.
- The staff are very excited to announce that the Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 classes will be attending Whitsunday Voices again in term 3.
More information will be distributed in upcoming weeks. However, the following authors will be focused on: -
Year 5 and 6 – George Ivanoff
Kate and Jol Temple or Trevor Fourmile – Year 3 and Year 4
- Under 8’s Day will be on May 23rd at 1:30-2:30. All parents and community are invited to join this special event.
- The Year 5 and 6 Leadership Program starts in week 3. Year 5 and 6 will be participating in Drumming, C and K visits and MySchool Kindy visits. They will also be covering a review of the Slade Point State School leadership pledge.

- WAKAKIRRI: I am very excited to announce that our school will be taking part in Wakakirri again. Miss Jade will be working with students in year 4, year 5 and year 6. Wakakirri rehearsal will be on a Monday at first break in the hall. A note has been given out to all interested students this week.
- CAID: The CAID program will still go ahead this year. Slade Point will have Uncle Patrick visiting in Term Two, on Wednesdays. Miss Jade will be supporting. Review of choreography will start in Term 4 for the Awakening Spirits in 2026.
- QUEENSLAND ENGAGEMENT SURVEY: I would like to thank Miss Sandrey and Miss Blackman for your participating and support with the Queensland Engagement survey.
New things Happening in the School and New Ideas: -
May is National Family Reading Month.
Book Fair 12-16th May
Celebrating our Successes: - Students have already received a large number of tokens for their excellent behaviour and leaning. Our Sladey Superstars has been very successful, and many students have received awards. During parades, we are always celebrating the great behaviour displayed by our students. Students are presented with their 25,50,75 and 100 badges as well as their 25 Certificate on parade each week.
Facilities and Maintenance: -
It is very exciting that our projectors and screens have been updated. Year 5, Year 4 and Year 3 have all had screens updated. Prep-1 and Year 2 will be having new screens installed over the next few weeks.
Our administration building exterior will be painted this term. Please be mindful about safety around the painters and their equipment.
A Block will have some painting and refurbishment completed. Work is currently under way.
I am very pleased to announce that All Modular Buildings will have boarding added underneath and around the open sections. This will commence over the next few weeks.

Admin
Admin Office Hours are 8:00am to 3:15pm.
Please note - the school phone may not be answered outside of these hours.
Late Slips: If your child arrives at school after 8:45, they will need to enter via the office and collect a late slip for their teacher.
STUDENT ACCOUNTS:
All SRS invoices are now due. Please make arrangement for payment as soon as possible. The funds that we receive are required to purchase resources for your child. These include online programs and Ipads.
Payment can be made several ways.
- QParents
- BPoint. Click on the invoice emailed to you and pay with your credit or debit card.
- Bank Transfer
- EFTPOS or cash in the school office
NO HAT - NO PLAY
Please check that your child has a hat to wear at school. We do not loan out hats to students as this may cause the spread of headlice.

Book Fair 12- 16 May
Book Fair is run to encourage children to explore and get excited about books. Wish lists serve as a tool to help parents understand which books their child is most interested in and also encourages children to discuss their selections with their family at home. We hope to see you there!


Sports Day - 30th May
Come on down to our annual Sports Day. P&C will be holding a sausage sizzle, baked goods and Icy cold drinks.
*Donations of baked goods must have Ingredients listed on them.
Tuckshop will have a special-pre-order form for the day.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ON SPORTS DAY.
If you would like to Volunteer for the P&C on the Day, a free sausage and drink to anyone who volunteers.


P & C News
The P & C are again running a 'Mother's Day Stall' so that your child can purchase a small gift for their Mum for Mother's Day. Please only send up to $20. Lots of items available. Students will go to the stall with their class to shop for mum. A pop-up stall will be in the undercover area for those children who missed out today.

Day for Dolly
Do It for Dolly Day is a day local community across Australia come together to remember Dolly, a young girl who tragically took her own life after an extended period of bullying and cyber bullying. Dolly's story shook the nation and prompted her family to take a stand against bullying.
Make a stand with us tomorrow bring a Gold Coin and wear BLUE, all monies raised goes to the Do It For Dolly Foundation.
