Welcome to Week 7!
The last few weeks have been busy and enjoyable for staff and students.
I would like to thank Chappy Peter and Mrs Borg for all your hard work and planning for our Community Breakfast.
More excitement and fun is planned with the P and C announcing their Disco Theme: - Glow in the Dark. The disco is on Friday 13th June. More information will be forwarded to all community, parents and carers over the next few weeks.
Congratulations to the following students who are selected to trial for Cumberland Athletics. We wish you all the very best at the trials! Harlow Scarfe, Katherine Perry, Myles Hill, Ethan Ford, Marshall V, Angella Lyons, Sofia Bull, Zion Tass and Jyah Mooney-Beer.
Congratulations to all students who participated in our annual Sports Day on the 30th of May. It was a wonderful day of fun and activities. A Hugh Thank You to Mrs Geiger for organising this amazing day. Thank you also goes to Mr Martin for your work on the oval and our special support officer Mr Bill Young.
The staff are very proud to announce that the Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 classes will be attending Whitsunday Voices again in term 3. Thank you Miss O’Mara, for organising this event.
Tickets will be on sale from the office over the next month. Students who purchase a ticket will be transported to and from Whitsunday voices by a free bus.
Tickets will be selling fast and close on 20th June.
Year 3 and 4 Kate & Jol Temple 12:15pm - 50 places
Kate and Jol Temple are the internationally acclaimed, laugh-out-loud duo behind more than 26 books for kids, including the wildly popular Bin Chicken series, the action-packed Underdogs and the thrilling The Dangerous Business of Being Trilby Moffat. Known for their energetic storytelling and witty humour, Kate and Jol bring books to life in a way that gets kids buzzing with excitement! Get ready – because at Whitsunday Voices 2025, they’re delivering interactive, hilarious, and seriously fun sessions that will have grades P-7 laughing, thinking, and falling in love with reading!
Year 5 and 6 George Ivanoff 1:30pm - 40 places
George Ivanoff is the best-selling author of over 100 books for children and teens, including the You Choose series, Monster Island and Gamers’ Quest. His You Choose: Alien Invasion From Beyond the Stars won the 2023 Young Australian Best Book Award and appears on Premier’s Reading Challenge booklists. He’s also written Doctor Who and The X-Files tie-in stories. George takes audiences through his inspiration and writing process – unpacking Monster Island, plotting multiple storylines in You Choose, and researching his Survival Guides – all with humour, adventure, and plenty of twists!
The school will cover the cost of buses. We are asking parents to pay $9 per child to attend this.
Please complete the permission form and return with $9 to the office by Friday the 20th of June.

Cost: $9 per student
Year Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students will be watching a live Puppet Show – called Wombat Stew later next term. This is a totally free event. The Puppet show will be on the 2nd of September (this is a Tuesday).

A reminder about more new and exciting events that the school is offering: -
A new initiative is the National Tree Day Excursion for Year 2 and Year 3.
The event runs from 9am - 1:30pm on Friday the 25th of July. This is a free event, and a bus will be supplied by The National Tree Organisation for students and staff.

New things Happening in the School and New Ideas: -
Slade Point State School proudly announces our collaboration with the following community support organisation.
1. Mackay Regional Council and National Tree Day Organisation
On the 25th of July, week 2 Term 3 the year 2 and year 3 classes will be participating in an excursion.
There were only 57 places available, so number are limited.
Please note that this excursion is a totally free excursion and Slade Point would like to officially thank Mackay Regional Council and the National Tree Day Organisation for providing free transport to and from the event.
We would love to have some parent helpers join us on this day!
The day will run as listed below: 8:30 am - Bus collection from Pheasant Street and drop off at Glenfields Park at Wheeler Drive, Glenella.
Celebrating our Successes: - Students have already received many tokens for their excellent behaviour and leaning. Our Sladey Superstars has been very successful, and many students have received awards. During parades, we are always celebrating the great behaviour displayed by our students. Students are presented with their 25,50,75 and 100 badges as well as their 25 Certificate on parade each week.
Facilities and Maintenance: -
Year 4 and Year 2 have had electronic screens installed in their classrooms.
Our administration building exterior will be painted this term. Please be mindful about safety around the painters and their equipment.
A Block has had some painting and refurbishment completed. Work is now complete and we will be moving some equipment back into the rooms.
I am very pleased to announce that All Modular Buildings will have boarding added underneath and around the open sections. This will commence over the next few weeks.

Please note - the school phone may not be answered outside of these hours.
Late Slip - If your child arrives at school after 8:45, they will need to enter via the office and collect a late slip for their teacher.

- BPoint - click on the emailed invoice. This will take you to the BPoint site, where you can make payment on your card

Sport's Day
Thank you to all parents and community for attending our Annual Sports Day! The weather was not kind, but most of the events were completed. The students were kept busy with their event rotations.

Student Council Update
We are looking at purchasing new equipment for the sports bins - used at lunchtimes. Thanks Leo for checking.
We still need donations of Glow Sticks for the Disco on Friday 13th June - next week. We are also running low on zooper doopers. Please donate for our Friday afternoon sales.
