School Opinion Survey
The School Opinion Survey (SOS) for 2025 will be conducted again in term 3 this year.
The official administration period for SOS is between 28 July to 22 August 2025.
Please note the key features of SOS administration for this year including:
• Staff and parents/caregivers will be automatically invited, and schools merely need to promote the survey
• Schools have flexibility in relation to the student survey – they can encourage students to complete the survey in their own time, or they can arrange for students to complete it in a classroom environment
• Daily response data will be available for all schools
Please follow the survey link below to nominate your school’s SOS 2025 contact person, and to find critical links to SOS administration information.
Parents will be reminded about completing the survey at Parent Teacher Interviews on Monday 11th August.
This year we are inviting Year 4 and Year 5 classes to complete the survey before the 22nd of August.

Eisteddfod
What’s happening in the Arts at Slade Point.
Eisteddfod 2025
What a big day for the Slade Point Choir! They competed this morning at the Mackay Eisteddfod and sang beautifully, earning themselves a silver award and the perpetual trophy to proudly show off in our school office. Well done to everyone! Special thanks to Miss Menzies for accompanying us on the piano, and Jess Hartree for helping with transport and moral support.
Beginner Strings and String Ensemble have their big day next week and we wish them all the best.
Afternoon Tunes
The choir, beginner strings and string ensemble participated in “Afternoon Tunes” at the end of July, a showcase of everything they have been working so hard on all year. Lots of families turned up to support and it was a great afternoon. Well done to all involved.
Recruitment concert Each year students from year 2 are selected to be part of the instrumental program for the following year. This year Miss Menzies, our string teacher, brought her string ensemble to the hall for a concert to show the year twos what the instrumental program at Slade Point is all about. The ensemble played some pieces they are working on, then answered lots of eager questions about the instruments and what lessons are like. It also gave the ensemble a fantastic chance to practice for their upcoming performance at the Mackay Eisteddfod. Thank you to Miss Menzies and the ensemble for giving their time.
